Marko Saric is an experienced & trust-worthy blogger that built his reputation on HowToMakeMyBlog, patiently helping people build their own successful blogs. He’s also a well-known social-media guy running the London Blog Club, where bloggers gather to share their knowledge and listen to influential guest speakers.
We think the secret to success blogging is finding out how it all started. Why did you start blogging?
I spent a lot of time reading, discussing and listening to Metallica when I was younger – it was my passion and took most of the hours of my day back then. So I decided to be more proactive about it and started a site where I could post latest news, concert reviews and so on – basically stuff I was already spending most of my time on.
What brings the enthusiasm that keeps you blogging?: I just love that I am able to write something that can be read by thousands of people and that can help some of them improve their blogs and eventually improve their lives. Blogging gives me the freedom to do just that.
Who is your target audience and how do you keep in touch?: My target audience for HowToMakeMyBlog.com is bloggers and any other people interested in starting blogs. I write regular blog posts, I am active on Twitter, and also have a Facebook page.
Is everything you write based on personal experience or do you make investigations before writing?
Majority of articles I write are based on what I have done on my own blog to achieve what I have achieved. I spell it out in simple step-by-step guides so other people have easy time doing the same on their own blogs and hopefully get the same success.
Have you ever published a post and later deleted it? I haven’t deleted it but I do edit quiet a lot. It is important to edit your older posts as many times some things become outdated while you still receive quiet a lot of traffic to the post from search engines.
Do you deal with criticism or negative feedback? If so, how do you deal with it?
I don’t really receive much negative feedback. I find that the blogosphere is treating me nicely.
Bloggers discover monetization hard, how do you deal with it?
I have shown on my blog how I make money – for example there is an article that shows how I made $1,000 in one month. Again I included step-by-step guide on how others can achieve the same.
Does your blogging go outside your online life? How?
I run a monthly blogging club in London called LondonBlogClub.com. Some 50-100 bloggers show up every month and it is a great place to meet other bloggers, get some good connections and improve your blog by listening to one of our speakers.
What’s the biggest mistake you see other bloggers making?
Giving up too quickly. Blogging is not as easy as some people tell you, hard work and a lot of time is needed to see some results. Many people give up after a week or a month when they see no visitors /comments to their blog posts. They should keep going and work consistently over a longer period of time.
