Before describing the Google +1 innovation, let’s talk about the actual search engine concept which led to it’s construction.

Google has traditionally ranked content according to relevance and authority.  These ranks are distributed among websites by different means, which involve having some SEO knowledge, but the basic rules (according to statistics) that lead to a higher rank are: quality backlinks, valuable content, and last but not least – regular updates.

But still… The missing ingredient in traditional search results is the lack of social circles.

Is it important to have a social page for your blog?

Maybe you’ve noticed that most of the sites you visit offer at least one button that would somehow keep you posted to whatever happens there. Well, I think it’s a key point to success. How so?

With the web growing, you should literally count every visitor.

Think of how many site’s you’ve surfed last month… probably a dozen. How many of them do you regularly visit? Not that much, probably.

It doesn’t mean the content was weak, or they lacked fun. We just forget about them. With so much competition for the visitor’s time, it becomes all about fishing for his attention.
